Karangasem is a regency (kabupaten) of Bali, Indonesia. Area of 839.54 km² and population of 369,320 (2002). Its regency seat is Amlapura.

Karangasem is located in the eastern side of Bali, it's the place for mother temple of Balinese Hindu, Besakih Temple, and the famous Lake Batur
